SYNTAX is an AI-powered clinical-reasoning and patient-simulation platform for medical education, operated by Truffaire Private Limited (“Truffaire”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Policy applies to the SYNTAX website and application.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name, email address and authentication details provided when you sign in, together with your role (student, faculty or administrator).
• Learning & encounter data — the simulated encounters you complete, your inputs (typed or transcribed voice), clinical decisions, scores, competencies, portfolio and progress.
• Institutional data — where you access SYNTAX through a college or university, your batch, department and any identifiers provided by that institution.
• Technical data — device, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, and usage logs collected automatically to operate and secure the service.
• Payment data — where you purchase a subscription, billing details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

SYNTAX simulates patients. All cases, encounters and results are fictional and generated for training purposes only. You must not enter real, identifiable patient information into the platform. SYNTAX is not designed or intended to store protected health information (PHI).

We use your information to:

• provide, personalise and improve the SYNTAX service;
• generate your feedback, scores, portfolio and progress over time;
• enable faculty supervision and institutional analytics where you belong to an institution;
• process payments and manage subscriptions;
• secure the platform, prevent misuse and comply with legal obligations;
• communicate with you about the service.

We share information only as needed to run SYNTAX:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, including authentication, cloud database and hosting, and AI inference providers that power the simulation and feedback.
• Your institution — if you access SYNTAX through a college or university, your faculty and administrators may view your learning activity, scores and progress as part of supervision and assessment.
• Legal & safety — where required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

We do not sell your personal information.

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), role-based access control, and institution-level data isolation so that one institution cannot access another's data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to safeguard your information.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We then delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, unless a longer retention period is required by law or by an institutional agreement.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export or object to the processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at one@truffaire.in. Where you access SYNTAX through an institution, some requests may be directed to that institution as the controller of your records.

We are based in India and may process information in other countries where our service providers operate. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

SYNTAX is intended for medical students, healthcare professionals and educators aged 18 or over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to operate the platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you through the service. Your continued use of SYNTAX after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
