Refund Policy
Last updated 5 July 2026
We want SYNTAX to be worth it. This Policy sets out, clearly and fairly, when purchases can be refunded — for students and institutions alike.
1. Overview
This Refund Policy explains when and how refunds are issued for purchases made on SYNTAX, an AI-powered clinical-reasoning and patient-simulation platform operated by Truffaire Private Limited (“Truffaire”, “we”, “us”, “our”). It applies to all student subscriptions, one-time encounter packs and institutional plans.
By making a purchase on SYNTAX you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
2. Digital service — nature of purchases
SYNTAX is a digital service delivered instantly. When you subscribe or buy an encounter pack, access is provisioned immediately and encounters are consumable digital content. Because value is delivered on use, refund eligibility depends on how much of the service has been consumed, as set out below.
3. Student subscriptions (monthly & yearly)
Monthly and yearly student plans (Basic, Standard, Pro) renew automatically until cancelled.
- 7-day cooling-off — If you are a first-time subscriber and have used no more than 2 encounters, you may request a full refund within 7 days of the initial charge.
- After the cooling-off period — Subscriptions are non-refundable once the window has passed or once more than 2 encounters have been used, whichever comes first. You keep access until the end of the paid term.
- Yearly plans — The 7-day cooling-off rule above applies to the first-ever charge on a yearly plan. Beyond that window, yearly plans are non-refundable but remain active for the full 12 months.
- Renewals — Automatic renewal charges are not eligible for refund. Cancel before your renewal date to avoid being billed for the next term (see Section 6).
4. Scout pack & one-time encounter packs
The Scout pack (3 encounters) and any additional one-time encounter packs are one-time purchases, not subscriptions.
- If you have used none of the encounters in the pack, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase.
- Once one or more encounters from the pack have been started, the pack is non-refundable, as the digital content has been consumed.
- Unused encounters expire at the end of their stated access period and hold no cash value.
5. Institutional plans
Institutional plans (Foundation, Professional, Enterprise) are governed by the signed order form or agreement between Truffaire and the institution.
- Annual institutional contracts are invoiced upfront and are non-refundable once the platform has been provisioned and access credentials issued.
- Refunds, credits or pro-rata adjustments, if any, are handled solely under the terms of that signed agreement.
- Where a structured pilot precedes a contract, the commercial terms of the pilot govern any amounts paid during it.
6. How to cancel
You can cancel a student subscription at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not, by itself, trigger a refund of amounts already paid. Your access continues until the end of the current paid term.
Institutions should contact their account manager or write to us to discuss cancellation under their agreement.
7. How to request a refund
To request a refund, email us at one@truffaire.in from the address associated with your account, including your registered name, the purchase in question and the reason for the request.
We review every eligible request and aim to respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, subject to your bank or card provider’s processing times.
8. Exceptional circumstances
Where you were charged in error, charged twice, or were unable to access the service due to a verified fault on our side that we could not resolve, we will refund the affected amount regardless of usage. Please contact us with the relevant details and we will make it right.
9. Taxes
Refunds are issued for the amount actually paid. Applicable taxes (including GST, where charged) are refunded in accordance with the tax treatment of the original transaction.
10. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this Policy limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Where such law grants you a remedy that exceeds what is offered here, that law prevails.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
